PRESS RELEASE – Wilton Mall

mall press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 27th, 2026

On October 24th at 4:51pm The Greenfield Fire District along with automatic mutual aid was
activated for a reported commercial structure fire at the Wilton Mall in the town of Wilton, NY.

Responding units located two failed circuit breakers within an electrical panel located inside an
in-line store. Prior to our arrival, mall staff secured power to the in-line store quickly
isolating the issue to the one circuit breaker panel.

Following our standard operating procedures for any reported fire, crews identified a deficiency in
the fire sprinkler and hydrant pump station. The scene was ultimately transferred to the town of
Wilton Code Enforcement/ Fire marshal office.
The Greenfield Fire District continued to work closely with the town of Wilton Officials, mall
management, and independent contractors on site to ensure transparency in the situation. Pre-plans
were immediately updated to ensure adequate protection was still provided.
No further details are available at this time.

Respectfully,

Duane Bogardus, District Chief
