Notice of Annual Election and Commissioner Candidates

ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE GREENFIELD FIRE DISTRICT

On December 10, 2024

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual Election of the Greenfield Fire District will take place on December 10, 2024 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Greenfield Fire District Office (building behind the firehouse), 13 South Greenfield Road, Greenfield Center NY, for the purpose of electing two Fire Commissioners, one for a five (5) year term, commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2029; and the other for a two (2) year term, commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2026.  All voters registered with the Saratoga County Board of Elections on or before November 18, 2024 shall be eligible to vote.

Candidates for District Office shall have filed their names with the District Administrator/Secretary of the Greenfield Fire District at the District Office located at 13 South Greenfield Road, Greenfield Center, NY, and in accordance with the District Election Policy, no later than 20 days before the election, 3 PM EST November 20, 2024.

Candidates running for Fire District Commissioner for the five year term beginning January 1, 2025 and ending on December 31, 2029 at the Annual Election being held on December 10, 2024:

Bryan Chouinard was appointed a Commissioner in January 2024 to fill the seat vacated by past commissioner Scott Hays. 

Commissioner Chouinard joined the Greenfield Fire District in 1980 at age 16 as a firefighter, following in his father’s footsteps by joining Maple Avenue Co#4.  He worked his way up the ranks achieving a previous term as a fire commissioner and Deputy Chief of Greenfield Center Co #1. Bryan is also a Sr. Fire Investigator of the Saratoga County Cause & Origin team since 1999. Bryan’s 44 years of active service within the fire service and attendance at numerous trainings have given him the vast knowledge on how a fire district should be run both financially and legally.

Candidates running for Fire District Commissioner for the two year term beginning January 1, 2025 and ending on December 31, 2026 at the Annual Election being held on December 10, 2024:

Commissioner Joseph Russo’s term ends December 31, 2024, and he is running for position of Commissioner again to finish the term left by past commissioner Scott Hays.
